Epic’s June 5, 2026 post, Build Worlds, Build Bonds: Fortnite Sidekicks Now Available as NPCs for Your Islands, says Sidekicks are now available as scriptable NPCs in UEFN. Epic says creators can customize how they look, script behavior with Verse, and animate them.
Publishing date and featuring opportunities
Epic said developers can start building immediately and publish their islands starting July 23. The company also said these islands will be eligible for a new creature-based Collection page, plus additional Discover featuring through Epic’s Picks and a Callout.

A separate Epic support page repeats the same publishing date and says developers can begin building today. The update expands the types of UEFN projects Epic expects creators to make, including monster battlers, cozy farming games, creature-collection RPGs, and companion adventures.
