Epic’s 41.20 Fortnite ecosystem update, published with a July 16 release date, adds the first wave of Sidekick control rigs to UEFN and expands creator tooling with new UMG widgets. Epic says the rigs use the same structure it uses internally, so creators can animate Sidekicks with the game’s own workflow. Epic documentation
Creature games get a Discover push
The same release also says creature-based games are now getting a dedicated Game Collection in Discover. Epic pairs that with rules for creature games, including Fortnite Developer Rules, payout terms, and in-island transaction guidance. Epic documentation
- Sidekick control rigs are now available in UEFN.
- New UMG widgets expand interface-building options.
- Creature-based experiences get a dedicated Discover collection.
- Epic says creature islands must follow Fortnite Developer Rules and payout terms.
For creators, the update matters because it moves Sidekicks from a feature announcement into an editable production pipeline. For IslandAtlas readers, it is also a signal that creature-style islands may receive more visibility in the Fortnite discovery ecosystem. Epic documentation
