v42.20 içerik üreticilerine Channel API, yumruk ve 5 kat yüksek hareket tavanı veriyor

v42.20 ekosistem sürüm notları güncellemenin üretici tarafı: özel sesli ve yazılı kanallar, silahsız yakın dövüş ve 2.000'den 11.000'e çıkan sprint sınırı.

Yesterday we covered what v42.20 does to Battle Royale. The ecosystem release notes published alongside today's update are a separate document with a separate audience, and they carry the part that changes what you can actually build. Three things in them matter more than the rest.

The Channel API

Creators can now create custom voice and text channels and control who can communicate and when. Epic frames it as coordination tooling, but the interesting use is the inverse: cutting communication. Splitting a lobby into channels that cannot hear each other, or silencing a squad at a chosen moment, is a mechanic rather than a setting — social deduction, horror, and asymmetric formats have all been working around the lack of it.

It lands in Verse as new Verse Voice API methods for managing voice chat channels, so this is scripting surface, not a device checkbox.

Unarmed is a real weapon now

The Unarmed update adds a two-hit punch combo and a shove that pushes opponents back with a light amount of force, and it works in both first- and third-person. That covers two very different island types with one feature: a third-person brawler and a first-person chase where the player has hands and nothing else.

The timing is not accidental. Epic is pointing this patch at horror islands ahead of Fortnitemares, and "the player is unarmed" is the oldest mechanic in the genre.

The movement ceiling moved a lot

The Player Movement Device raised three maximums, and the jumps are large enough to change what the device is for:

  • Sprint Maximum Speed: 2,000 → 11,000
  • Tactical Sprint Speed Multiplier: 5 → 20
  • Maximum Acceleration: 1,000 → 10,000

A 5.5x sprint ceiling is not a tuning pass. Racing, parkour and movement-shooter islands that were previously capped by the device — and had to fake speed with launch pads, teleporters or scaled geometry — can now ask for it directly.

The line to read carefully

The Marketplace module moved from `/Fortnite.com/Marketplace` to `/UnrealEngine.com/Marketplace`. The old path still works and emits deprecation warnings, which is the friendliest possible version of this change and also the easiest one to ignore until it stops being optional. If your project imports it, update the path while it is a warning.

The rest of the notes are content and convenience: a Stone Sanctum Set with a temple prefab and six galleries, the Reaper Sniper Rifle in Rare, Epic and Legendary, plus the Overpowered Pump Shotgun, Overclocked 8-Bit Shotgun, Balloon Popper Assault Rifle and Accelerant Drum Gun, and a Widget Preview that tests UI inside the editor without launching a session. Widget Preview is the quiet time-saver — UI iteration has always cost a full session launch per attempt.

What to do with it this week

If you ship a horror island, Unarmed and the Channel API are both usable before Fortnitemares rather than after it. If you ship anything that moves fast, re-test against the new device maximums before assuming your old workaround is still the best option. And if you have a Marketplace import, fix the path now — a deprecation warning is a deadline that has not been announced yet.
