UEFN artık MCP sunucusu barındırıyor, ajan araçlar ada kurabiliyor
Fortnite Ecosystem v42.00 Unreal MCP'yi UEFN'e getiriyor: editör kendi MCP sunucusunu çalıştırıyor, böylece Claude Code, Codex veya Cursor Verse yazabiliyor, cihaz yerleştirebiliyor ve UMG arayüzlerini düzenlenebilir proje varlıkları olarak oluşturabiliyor.
Yazan IslandAtlas
Epic shipped Fortnite Ecosystem v42.00 on August 20, and the headline for creators is not a prefab set or a new device. UEFN now runs a Model Context Protocol server inside the editor, which means an agentic coding tool running on the same machine can drive a UEFN project directly.
What Unreal MCP actually does in UEFN
Unreal MCP is the plugin that first shipped with Unreal Engine 5.8, now brought across to UEFN. Because MCP is an open standard, Epic is not naming a single blessed client — the release notes call out Claude Code, Codex and Cursor as examples, and any MCP-compatible tool can connect locally.
The scope inside the editor is wider than autocomplete. Per Epic, a connected tool can write and compile Verse, place and configure devices, create Scene Graph entities, and build UI with UMG. The important detail is the one that decides whether studios adopt it: everything the tool produces stays a normal, editable project asset. There is no separate generated layer to babysit, and nothing that stops being yours if you disconnect the tool.
Touch controls leave Experimental
The other change with real shipping consequences is mobile. Touch input gestures through the Virtual Pointer have exited Experimental — tap and drag are cleared for live islands, and the de-projection APIs that let you reason about where a touch lands in world space graduated with them. Pinch is still Experimental, so a pinch-to-zoom camera is not something to build a published island around yet.
The rest of the v42.00 creator list
- Ability System (Experimental) — a framework for reusable gameplay abilities in Verse, built from structured templates or your own Verse APIs. New orbit, fixed-angle and fixed-point camera modifiers arrived alongside it, also Experimental.
- Telekineticon (Experimental) — a physics item for picking up, moving and dropping props. Experimental here has teeth: islands that use it cannot be published.
- Heatwave Harbor — a new prefab and gallery set, hotel structures included.
- Verse — stricter scoped-access rules, so code that leaned on loose module access may need fixing before it compiles.
- Lore (formerly URC) — branches can be archived, conflicts can be filtered, and lock propagation behaves better on team projects.
Why this one is worth a read rather than a skim
Most ecosystem updates change what you can build. This one changes who is holding the mouse, and that lands differently for a solo creator than for a team. If you have been putting off Verse because the language was the wall, the wall moved. If you run a project with several collaborators, the Verse scoped-access tightening and the Lore branch-archiving work are the parts that will touch your week first — an agent that writes code you cannot merge cleanly is not a productivity win.
One practical caution: an editor-resident MCP server accepts local connections from whatever tool you point at it, so treat that the way you would treat any local dev endpoint on a shared or streamed machine.
