For most of the past week the end of Chapter 7 Season 3 was a date without a clock. That changed with an in-game teaser: Unstable is set for Saturday, August 15 at 2:00 PM ET (18:00 UTC), and the teaser tells players to be in a match by 1:55 PM ET to see it start.

Until then the date lived in datamines — the name and logo came out of the v41.30 files, and coverage as recently as August 2 still called the August 15 target unconfirmed. The teaser is what moved it.

A Story Moment is not a live event

This is the distinction worth getting right, because it changes what happens to your island that afternoon. A full live event pulls players into a dedicated, locked playlist for the duration. A Story Moment plays out inside a normal match — shorter, no separate queue, and typically no replay for anyone who misses the window.

• Saturday, August 15 — Unstable, 2:00 PM ET / 18:00 UTC, in-match. Be loaded by 1:55 PM ET.
• Wednesday, August 19 — Chapter 7 Season 3 ends at 23:00 UTC.
• Thursday, August 20 — Chapter 7 Season 4, *Override*, begins.
• Today, August 8 — Gem Hours run 2–4 PM ET and 9–11 PM ET with a Mythic loot pool and boosted Sprite rates.

The Sprite line in the teaser is not decoration either. Epic has been running weekly Sprite events all season, and boosted Mythic Sprite rates during the moment give the crowd a mechanical reason to be in Battle Royale at 2:00 PM rather than anywhere else.

What it does to Discover traffic

A Story Moment does not empty the ecosystem the way a locked-playlist event does — but the sixty to ninety minutes around it still belong to Battle Royale. Practice islands feel this hardest, and practice is exactly what is on top of the board right now: today's number one in our island rankings is EDIT PUMP WARS FFA (`6619-9661-3038`), an edit-and-boxfight FFA.

Then there is the second, bigger drop. Season 3 ends four days later, and a season change resets loot, map and habits at once. An island tuned around Season 3 weapons is running on a five-day clock, not a five-week one.

The next twelve days, in order

• Do not schedule an update drop for Saturday afternoon. Ship it Thursday or Friday and let the weekend carry it — 2:00 PM ET Saturday is the one hour nobody is browsing Discover.
• Treat August 15 to 19 as the end of the Season 3 build. Balance passes on seasonal loot expire on the 20th.
• Hold the bigger rework for Override rather than patching twice. Season-launch week is when players re-browse, and a fresh listing lands better than a stale one that was updated on the 16th.
• If your island leans on Sprites, the boosted-rate window is a promotion you did not have to buy — but it points at Battle Royale, not at you. Plan around it, not against it.

One caution on the clock: Epic has not published Unstable on its own newsroom, so the 2:00 PM ET figure comes from the in-game teaser rather than a blog post. Story Moment start times have shifted before, and recent ones have run at 12:30 PM PT — which is the same 2:00 PM ET only if you convert carefully. Load in early.
