A work-in-progress trailer for Marvel's Iron Man, the action game in development at EA's Motive Studio, spread across social platforms on 28 August. It was posted first to a leaks subreddit and removed there, then reuploaded elsewhere faster than it could be taken down. On 29 August the game's official account acknowledged it.

The statement was four sentences long and gave up nothing beyond the confirmation itself: *"Well, that didn't go as planned. But now you know, and we've got a lot more to show you. See you when we're ready."* No release window, no platforms, no reveal date.

What the footage shows

The clip runs roughly two and a half minutes and mixes cinematic material with gameplay. Reporting from outlets that saw it before the takedowns describes Tony Stark suiting up in the classic red-and-gold armour plus alternate suits, free flight through a version of New York City, and combat that includes sweeping laser attacks and catching incoming missiles to throw them back.

• Flight traversal over a dense open city rather than mission-gated corridors
• A suit-swapping or customisation layer, shown through several distinct armours
• Multiple villains, including an armoured figure widely read as Iron Monger
• A set-piece aboard a helicarrier
• Stark characterised out of the armour as well as in it

Every frame carried a visible watermark with an August 2026 date stamp — the marker of an internal cut circulated for review, not a finished trailer. That is the important caveat for anyone judging the game on it: this is footage the studio had not signed off on, and it is normal for lighting, effects and animation in a build like that to be nowhere near final.

Why this one mattered

The Iron Man game was announced in 2022 and has been close to silent since. It is part of the multi-title collaboration EA and Marvel announced that November, it is being built at Motive by a team led by Olivier Proulx of Guardians of the Galaxy, and it follows the studio's work on the Dead Space remake. Until this week there was effectively no public footage — which is exactly why an unfinished internal cut travelled as far as it did.

The response is also worth noting on its own. Publishers usually meet a leak with copyright takedowns and silence; confirming the footage inside 24 hours and promising more is the newer playbook, and it takes the oxygen out of a week of "is it real" argument. What it does not do is move the game any closer to a date.

What to watch next

"See you when we're ready" reads like a reveal that now has to be re-planned rather than cancelled. The obvious slots are the autumn showcase run and The Game Awards in December. Until one of those happens, treat everything in the leaked cut as directional: the traversal and combat ideas are real, the polish on screen is not what ships.
