El Nintendo Direct pone fecha al invierno de Switch 2, sobre todo con catálogo de terceros

Nintendo ran its general September Direct on September 9, a 45-minute broadcast that followed the Zelda 40th Anniversary presentation the previous morning. The company had confirmed the schedule on September 4 without publishing a lineup for either show. The lineup is now out, and the notable thing about it is not any single reveal but the shape of the calendar it produced.

Nintendo used the broadcast mainly to date software that already exists elsewhere. Capcom's Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 remakes were given a single Switch 2 date, and CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered landed a slot before the end of September. Two of Nintendo's own entries in the window, Pikmin 4 and Xenoblade Chronicles 3, are Switch 2 editions of Switch games rather than new titles.

A second tier of announcements runs into 2027: Metroid Ravenous on January 28, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity — Definitive Edition on February 25, Final Fantasy VII Revelation on April 8, and Persona 4 Revival on May 20. Kirby's next 3D game, Kirby and the World Beyond, was placed in spring 2027, and a Monster Hunter Wilds expansion called Ascendance was dated to 2027 without a month. Nintendo also announced Persona 6 for the platform with no date attached.

What shipped the same day

Three things went live immediately after the broadcast rather than being previewed. Mario Kart World received a free update adding ten classic courses, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion arrived on Switch 2, and Star Fox Adventures joined the GameCube Classics library. Same-day releases have become a standard part of the Direct format, and they are the portion of the show a viewer can act on before the next one.

Why the mix matters

For anyone tracking the Switch 2 as a platform rather than as a games list, the balance is the story. The console's autumn is being filled by publishers moving existing catalogue onto it — Capcom, CD Projekt Red, Square Enix and Atlus — while the genuinely new first-party software Nintendo showed, Metroid Ravenous and the Kirby game, sits in 2027. Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave on September 17 is the clearest near-term exception.

That is a normal pattern in the second year of a console rather than a warning sign, and it is worth reading alongside the runtime Nintendo chose. A 45-minute general Direct is a full-length broadcast, which is the point we flagged when the two Directs were first scheduled — Nintendo had enough to fill it, and most of what filled it came from other publishers.
