Runners ends August 19 at 23:00 UTC — that leaves creators 16 days of a known audience
Chapter 7 Season 3 closes on a published timestamp and Season 4 takes its place the same day. The date is the useful part: a season's last two weeks and its first are two different markets, and only one of them is predictable.

Chapter 7 Season 3 — *Runners* — ends on Wednesday, August 19 at 23:00 UTC, with downtime for the Season 4 update starting at that timestamp, per Insider Gaming and the countdown trackers watching the same clock. That is 19:00 ET, 16:00 PT, and 01:00 CEST on the 20th.
The season opened on June 6 and runs about 75 days, which is the cadence Epic has kept all through Chapter 7. Nothing about the date is surprising. What it is, is known — and for anyone publishing islands, a known date two weeks out is worth more than most patch notes.
The last two weeks and the first two weeks are different markets
Right now the audience is the one you have spent 60 days learning. Battle Pass progress is nearly banked, the meta is settled, and players are choosing modes rather than discovering them. Retention data from this stretch is the cleanest signal you will get all season, because almost nothing is moving underneath it.
The day Season 4 lands, that all resets. A new Battle Pass pulls attention back to Battle Royale, Discover reshuffles as engagement across every island moves at once, and the numbers your island posted on August 18 stop predicting anything about August 21.
- Before the 19th: ship the change you want measured. A tweak launched now gets a fortnight of comparable data; the same tweak on the 20th gets noise.
- Don't debut a new island into the changeover. First impressions land worst in the week when everyone is looking at Epic's new season, not at Discover.
- Do bank your baselines. Screenshot the metrics that matter to you before the flip — after it, you have no clean 'before' to argue with.
- Players have their own deadline: unclaimed Battle Pass tiers do not carry into Season 4, and a lot of session time in the final week goes there rather than into browsing.
What is actually known about Season 4
Very little, officially. Epic has not published an end time beyond the downtime window, and it has not detailed the next season's theme. There is plenty of leak-sourced chatter about which gaming icons show up; none of it is confirmed by Epic, so it is not something to build a publishing plan on.
The plannable facts are the calendar ones: the season ends on the 19th, the changeover happens inside that downtime, and the sixteen days before it are the last stretch this season where your audience behaves the way your data says it does.
