Epic says publishable islands with LLM-powered NPC conversations will exit Experimental on July 30 with v41.30. The company’s announcement is the clearest new UEFN development in the last few days and directly affects creator publishing.

In the same post, Epic said it added consistent voices and personas for 36 Fortnite characters when they are used as NPCs, with more to come over time. Epic also said some Fortnite IP characters will be locked to their voices and personas and will not be editable when the update arrives.

What changed

  • Creators can publish islands with LLM conversations after July 30.
  • 36 Fortnite characters now have consistent NPC voices and personas.
  • Epic says some IP characters will be locked to preserve their intended voice and persona.

This follows Epic’s earlier UEFN rollout work and is separate from the July 16 41.20 ecosystem update, which introduced Sidekick control rigs and other tools. For IslandAtlas readers, the important point is that the July 30 release is a distinct publishing milestone rather than a rehash of the 41.20 patch. (fortnite.com)
